Characterization and comparative study on chemically treated luffa fiber as reinforcement for polylactic acid bio-composites

چکیده

Luffa reinforced polylactic acid (PLA) bio-composites were prepared and examined. The luffa surface was treated using three chemicals, i.e., sodium hydroxide, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, acetic anhydride, which enhanced compatibility with PLA. Mechanical testing done on the chemically modified PLA bio-composites, tensile, flexural, hardness, thermal. Infrared spectral functional group morphological analyses performed each sample. results showed increases in tensile flexural strength of 7.1% 6.9% for 5.7% 1.4% silane, 4.3% 0.4% acetylation, respectively, especially to surface-treated samples at 15 wt.% fiber volume, a decrease water uptake (%). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed that chemical treatments successful removal lignin hemicellulose structures, cause structure be rough. Smooth surfaces observed through SEM images. Thermal stability due improved interfacial bonding between PLA, eliminating other constituents impurities. Moreover, analysis matrix.

Flame Retardant Luffa Fiber Reinforced Composites with Epoxy Resin Matrices

In current years composites have concerned considerable importance as a potential operational material. Low cost, light weights, high specific modulus, renewability, and biodegradability are the most basic & common attractive features of composites that make them useful for industrial applications. Luffacylindrical locally called as “sponge-gourd” is one such natural resource whose potential as...

Biocompatibility and characterization of polylactic acid/styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene composites.

Polylactic acid (PLA)/styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) composites were prepared by melt blending. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and wide angle X-ray diffraction (WXRD) were used to characterize PLA and PLA/SEBS composites in terms of their melting behavior and crystallization. Curves from thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) illustrated that thermostability increased with SEBS c...

Comparative Study of Steel and Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete Composites

Concrete is most widely used construction material in the world. Fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) is a concrete in which small and discontinuous fibers are dispersed uniformly. The fibers used in FRC may be of different materials like steel, G.I., carbon, glass, aramid, asbestos, polypropylene, jute etc. The addition of these fibers into concrete mass can dramatically increase the compressive st...
